Wildcats Grind Out Gritty 31-27 Victory

Defense and Hustle Secure the Win

The Wildcats relied on a relentless defensive effort to secure a hard-fought 31-27 win. Despite a cold shooting night, the team’s grit carried the day. They turned defense into offense with 15 team steals and a critical block in the paint, holding their ground in a low-scoring battle.

Control of the glass was a major factor. The squad pulled down 28 total rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end. These extra chances extended possessions when points were hard to come by. The Wildcats also kept their composure with the ball, limiting themselves to just 11 turnovers while forcing the opposition into mistakes.

Player Highlights:
• Adelaide Bedford: Led all scorers with 10 points, hitting a crucial 3-of-4 from three-point range.
• Ashia Sims: Stuffed the stat sheet with 5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and a block.
• Gabby Gaines: Dominated the boards with a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 3 points.
• Nyah Sykes: Added 4 points and 3 steals of her own.
• Faith Schurman: Chipped in 4 points with efficient inside looks.
• Makynzie Walker: Contributed 2 points on her lone attempt.

While overall shooting sat at 24 percent (23% on two-point attempts) and free throws were 2-of-7, the squad never wavered. Madison Myers keyed the defense with 4 steals, and Chanel Barnes provided steady minutes under pressure. This defensive-first mindset proved to be the winning edge for the Wildcats.
