Relentless Defense Lifts Wildcats 18–8

Wildcats show immense heart in a defensive masterclass, securing points through discipline and teamwork.

Defense carried the day in an 19-8 win, with pressure on the ball and activity in the passing lanes setting the tone. The group racked up 15 team steals and blocked 2 shots while committing just 5 fouls, keeping the opposition out of rhythm and off the line. Winning the possession battle with 29 rebounds, including 15 offensive rebounds, created second-chance looks that ultimately broke the game open despite a cold shooting night.

Demariiyana Timmons powered the effort inside with 8 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block, controlling the glass and turning defense into offense. Ellie Najar added 6 points on 38 percent shooting with 6 steals, repeatedly igniting transition chances. Chasidy  Barnes chipped in 7 rebounds, helping secure the paint and extend possessions, while Destinii Ellis contributed 4 assists and 2 steals to keep the ball moving and the pressure on.

Ball security was mixed. The team forced takeaways at a high clip but matched that with 15 turnovers, which limited clean scoring opportunities. Even so, the defense and rebounding margin offset those empty trips by tilting the floor back in favor of the group.

Finishing touch is the edge to sharpen. The offense shot 21 percent from the field, including 9 of 41 from two, and went 1 of 4 at the line. Continued emphasis on shot selection and conversion around the rim will raise the ceiling, but the combination of disruptive defense, relentless work on the offensive glass, and balanced rotation contributions earned a well-deserved result.
